SuiCycle

A look at what goes in, what goes out, and how everything we swallow gives the environment a case of indigestion. SuiCycle is a lively, multi-textured animated short with a darkly comic style at odds with the subject matter, Suicycle—intended to play as a never-ending loop— The piece was created specifically for the 2007 DesignPolitics exhibition in Santiago, Chile: a forum for "visual ideologies" comprised of the best issue-driven design work from around the globe.

All the illustrations were done as animated mask shapes in After Effects.

In Communication Arts!

Wow! So glad to be featured in this month (November) issue, in the Fresh section of the design annual Communication Arts magazine.

60 Unite for Children

I just got my copy, the book is great and I'm so honored to share pages with very talented designers and illustrators. The concept behind this book published by APAG editions in France was celebrate the 60th anniversary of UNICEF inviting 60 illustrators all around the globe to come up with a piece related to childhood and a quote. Above you can see how the cover book looks and my participation for it.

You can buy the book here or check the official website.

Paper Pushers

I was invited to be part of this show at 1988 Gallery in San Francisco, the theme is open but all the works are in paper. I did five new pieces from a series called "Maquinaria Interna" all in coffee and ink on 7X10" paper. Inspired in part by the day of the dead, yes the mexican celebration.

Kokeshi Dolls

Pieces created for the show Kokeshi running from November 3rd to December 17th at Subtext Gallery in San Diego. If you are by don't miss the show, a lot of kick ass artists are showing, I feel very lucky to be part of it.
I did a Zombie Kokeshi and Space Man Kokeshi, both are acrylic on wood.

It all went wrong

Which kinda sums this one up. I forgot to take the long shot! Oh well. Better stuff coming soon.
Other news; I am featured in a new street art book called 'Street Renegades: New Underground Art' that is out 15th October. It is by Francesca Gavin. I haven't seen it yet but it features loads of great artists such as Cut Up Collective, Dan Witz, Invader, Mark Jenkins and Graffiti Research Lab.

I forgot that my stuff is also featured in a new book published by Die Gestalten Verlag called 'Tactile: High Touch Visuals'. It isn't a street art book as such as it concentrates on artsists and designers implementing their ideas spatially, but it does feature work by Mark Jenkins, TRUTH and others such as friendswithyou. I got it in the post yesterday and it is great!

16"X20" Acrylic on Canvas

This is a piece I created as part of a benefit music tour organized by the musician Barbara Trentalange. She invited several artists to create a piece inspired by one song of the album, mine was the titled "Monster". The piece will be film and projected behind the performance on the stage and will be auctioned off at the end of the tour to donate part of the sales helping Powerful Voices, an organization that helps at-risk teenage girls.
